I have blogged about my trips to the library and the variety of crafty books there for borrowing. It is fun to look through the stacks and browse through them. This book really caught my eye, 'Nifty, Thrifty, and Kitschy Crafts'. It has a lot of 50's and 60's crafts that the author discovered in her own browsing through vintage craft books and magazines. Some of the crafts bring back memories of childhood, items made out of Popsicle sticks and macaroni noodles. What fun!
The one that I decided to do today was a flower craft. In the original pattern that she found it had stated that these would look great added to your poodle skirt. That is DEFINITELY retro!
There were three styles, but only two of them really caught my eye, the zinnia and the daisy. The pattern used a thick craft glue, but I like my hot glue gun, so that is what I used. In these pictures they are adorning a sweater and a t shirt, but they would look great on a jacket or even clipped in your hair. They were so easy, I might end up making them in a lot of colors to coordinate with the rest of my wardrobe.
