Bib Card

My head is feeling much better today so here is a normal post.  A former coworker of mine just became a daddy for the first time, it's so exciting!  Of course the gift is a teddy bear but I need a card to go with it.  For two hours tonight I made various designs with baby themes until deciding that this was THE design. The card lent itself to a bib design, my drawing just enhanced it and the scalloped edge made the perfect 'lace.'  After drawing out the bib it seemed to be missing one thing so I cut out the middle and added pink behind it.  It was a definite improvement.  Now all that is left is a trip to the post office to mail it off to the new family.  Congrats G!

Fun Shower Ideas

I am the oldest of 26 cousins.  When it comes to gender, we girls out number the boys by a lot!  Including my brother, there are five boys.  Because of this, I have become an expert on Wedding and baby showers.  At a past job and at events such as these, I am the game queen.  I LOVE coming up with new and interesting games and it is a necessity when you have been involved in so many showers.  In the future I may post a few more ideas, but today am going to limit it to five.  Really, I should write a book on showers.  Some of these ideas may be things you have heard of but it's nice to have a quick reference.  1.  Rice & Safety Pins This is a tricky one and better in smaller showers because it can take a while.  In a bowl put about a cup and a half to two cups of uncooked rice and add a small package of safety pins.  Blindfold your guest and see how many pins they can find in a minutes time.  It is trickier than i...

Piggy Bank

I could not resist buying this wooden piggy bank it was .99!  It is actually good sized too, it stands about six inches tall and is about ten inches long. It will most likely be a gift for one of my pregnant friends.  There are at least four people that I know that are currently expectant mothers.  Teddy Bears are definitely on my to do list as well, but it's nice to change it up a bit.  This little piggy is unique and so it is painted in two different colors.  The orange gives it a nice pop and the white is a great contrast.  It was fun painting all of the flowers in bright pink and yellow.   Who knows, I may decide to change my mind and keep it.  Who says adults can't have piggy banks! Short and sweet today, it's my day off and the weather is gorgeous, lots to do and it is Tuesday.  Hm...I hear the Goodwill calling my name. :)

I sew too!

I have a favorite gift to give my friends and family that are expecting. Teddy Bears! I found this pattern a long time ago in a magazine, I think it was Better Homes and Garden, probably a special holiday decor issue, but anyways, since finding it, have made probably 40 bears. The pattern was printed in three sizes, I usually make the medium and large ones. It is just nice to give something that the child can grow up with and love. This one is made out of 2 different fabrics. I never sew on eyes because of little one playing with it. You don't want any choking accidents on buttons. They are soft and cuddly and can be customized for the nursery decor. Every kid needs a Teddy bear to snuggle with!
