Golf Chair...FORE!!!

Here is another Adirondack chair, but this time the request was golf themed.  It turned out good I think.  The arms are supposed to represent actual holes at a local course.  It was fun and challenging to do something other than tropical.  A family member asked for this one for a charity golf benefit.  Hopefully it will raise a lot of money for Cancer research.   Update:  Over $400.00 for charity!!!  Woo Hoo!

Parrots and Pirates

Hello everyone!  It has been a while, but I have been experiencing some technical difficulties.  My camera is not working so my phone has become my new 'camera.'  I really need to post some of my sewing stuff soon.  I have made clothing and some bags and they are turning out really well.  In many of my past posts I have mentioned Parrot heads and the chairs that I paint.  Here are the two chairs for the club that they are auctioning off towards the end of the month.  The styles are very different from each other.  Not feeling too chatty today so here they are. Fins up and seriously there will be more stuff soon I promise!!

Let's Go WILD!!!

Christmas came early this year for part of my family.  We celebrated this past weekend and this is what I gave my nephew.  He is a huge fan of the Minnesota Wild so I thought it was appropriate to paint a chair for him.  He is almost seventeen so being able to give him a gift instead of a gift card is always a challenge.  Wish I would have taken a picture of his face when he saw it!  My nephew is a great kid and he makes me proud so it is great to give him something like this.

Painted Old Chair

This chair was given to me by my mother-in-law.  She wanted me to paint a Vikings theme for my stepson on it.  It is a great idea but this chair is a bit too dilapidated for anyone to sit on.  I am going to use it as a plant stand so I just painted it in a fun and random style.  When the chair came into my possession it already had paint spots and splatters all over it.  I added the swoops in green, black and pink and then decided that more splotched and spots would look even better.  This is the final result and now I have an interesting plant stand.

A finished chair

Here is the finished Adirondack chair.  I think it turned out great, hopefully my mother in law with think so too.  Just a quick write up today, holidays, lots going on.  Craziness!

A work in progress

Today, my project isn't entirely finished.  This one has taken longer because it is/was and unfinished Adirondack chair and it needs to be put together.  The chair is going to be a gift for my mother-in-law.  She loves to garden, so I thought it would be appropriate to paint flowers all over it.  The base coat took almost as long as the actual design.  It took three coats for a good background and needed to dry in between coats.  I like to use either American Accents or Painters Touch both by Rustoleum for Adirondack chairs.  The paint is latex and easy to clean up and the finish is really great.  Tomorrow, it will be finished and I will post the final product.  This chair was purchased last summer for 19.97 on clearance at Jo Ann Fabrics.  More money than I usually spend, but that is a great price for an item like this.

Kitchen Chair

I saw this project in a painting magazine quite a few years ago.  I really liked the idea of having chairs painted in all different styles.   So, I did it!  Here is my orange theme chair.  You can find old wooden dining chairs at most thrift stores for less than $5.00 each.  Garage sales are another option when the time of year permits or if you know friends that are moving, offer to take that extra "junk" out of their way.  Basically, I sanded the chair lightly and came up with my color/motif idea.  This one reminds me of the fall colors.  Be sure to put a finish on things like this.  Chairs get a lot of abuse, so the paint needs to be protected.
