Creative Dawn

I love to look at fashion magazines and briefly attended FIDM in Los Angeles to study design.  One of my absolute favorite shows is Project Runway, I may have mentioned this in some past post.  Every season I am inspired by the designers and would love to be on a show like that but, I sew like crap!  OK not that bad but my sewing ability would get me eliminated right away.  My talent more so lies in the designing part not the execution.  This is a drawing that I did last night, gowns are my favorite to sketch.   Here is also a cool display that was created by me at work.  This is entirely draped and pinned on the mannequins and my boss really liked it so that is a good thing.  Actually, the latest addition to my responsibilities at work has been the displays.  No one else likes to do it which is great for me! 

I love this drawing!  Don't you wish you had boots this fun!  Maybe I could be a shoe/boot designer and bring my style to the fashion world.  I think this would look great in red with black accents.  The top could be a faux fur of some sort.  This definately deserves a cool frame.  Looks like I need to start digging around for frames and some more unique embelishments.  Future posts???

  Big sigh!  Today my creativity seems to be eluding me.  I have projects plotted out in my head but until I get a few bucks in the bank I cannot transfer them from my mind to my crafting table.  There will be something today, but it may not be my best effort.  I'm allowed an off day.  I went to my new favorite place today, the library, to try to get a bit more inspired.  I ended up with a movie and two books to read.  It's like writers block I'm sure.  It's there, but not quite.  To get my brain working, let's talk about my top five dream jobs.  It's good no matter what age you are to have dreams.  Did you know that the famous artist Grandma Moses was not 'discovered' until she was in her seventies?  Keep plugging away, your time will come.   T-Shirt design for a place I used to work  These are in no particular order: Children's Book Illustrator, kn own painter for hire (other than friends & fami...

Today is Thursday, Project Runway day!  One of my favorite shows.  I do like to dabble in design, and did go to FIDM for a bit.  Occasionally an idea hits me and I have to draw it out.  In my younger days, I wanted to be a fashion designer, but after going to school for a bit, figured it wasn't for me.  I can sew, but not well enough for clothing design.  This one of my illustrations - black and white, my fave!
