Puzzle Necklace the Sequel!

I made a necklace a while ago with pieces of a Peter Maxx puzzle.  That particular post is viewed a lot and every time I wear the necklace, people comment on it.  Because of that, I decided to do another one.  The pieces on this one are a bit smaller so more difficult to work with.  It's a good thing that this puzzle had a lot of pieces because a few of them tore.  Here is a helpful hint, apply a coat of nail polish to the backs, they become more sturdy and also have a smooth texture.  The design was more complex so it took a few hours to complete.  This is one of those puzzles that had a lot of small pictures to make the larger picture.  I really liked the shades of blue it gives it a turquoise like effect. There are so many options with the puzzles that if I perfected the technique they would be marketable.  But for now it is too time consuming to make very many and my hands got sore after making all of the tiny holes for the ju...

This and That

I am sooo tired!  Deciding on a project today wasn't easy, after work I am exhausted and sometimes uninspired.  The ideas are in my head, but the energy to complete them isn't there.  YAWN!  This is a combo project.  The frame was .97 from Walmart, the puzzle was a buck or two from a thrift store, I always have the felt on hand and finally the pin was something that belonged to my grandma.  Originally the puzzle caught my eye at the store because of the colors.  It has oranges and blues, a color contrast that I really like.  After picking through the pieces and gathering most of the orange, I hot glued them to the frame.  This black felt is really cool, it's textured and it was .10 for the square.  After attaching it, I decided that it needed one small finishing touch.  A beautiful 'D' pin that was given to me by my grandma.  Her name was Dorothy and mine is Dawn, so naturally it was passed down to me.  What...

Peter Maxx puzzles

Iconic sixties artist Peter Maxx is a great inspiration for me.  Quite a few years ago, I bought an assortment of puzzles that were small versions of some of his work.  They were cheap, from one of those dollar stores. The finished puzzles were about 6 x 8.  I have kept them on a shelf, most were assembled and one was still in the box.  I had managed to use puzzle saver to keep them together.  Then yesterday, an idea came to me, I had a frame that was used on a past post as a normal frame but now I had an even better idea for it.  The great thing about creativity is that sometimes you do a project and after time passes, a better idea surfaces.  This was one of those times.  I gathered up my puzzles and after measuring one of them cut it to size for the frame.  They were cheap so the cardboard was easy to cut.  Then I grabbed my glue gun and used the remaining pieces to decorate the frame....
