Mismatched Wings

Earlier today I decided that butterflies would be my drawing for the day.  After a small shopping trip on my lunch break, I knew that it was meant to be.  There was a calendar for next year filled with pictures of gorgeous butterflies and it was only a dollar.  This was my inspiration!  Once I got home, the doodling started.  For whatever reason making the wings mismatched seemed like a good idea.  The results were definitely to my liking.  Being an artist always gets interesting responses from people.  The most common thing that is asked is can you draw me something.  Well, at work tonight I was chatting with one of the other employees and she loves peacocks so she asked me to draw one for her to hang in her room.  That is a request that is possible!  So not in the next few days but in the future you can look for that drawing.  It could be a really fun thing to draw especially with my style.  The designs on the feathers...

My Favorite Butterfly Drawing

Right now even though there are many ideas in my head, I am having a bit of a block. There are currently seven things that are in the process of being painted and a few craft projects that are in the beginning stages. Maybe there is too much going on.  I know that it will all work out, but right now it is a bit frustrating.  My best bet may be to look through some art books, that always helps with the inspiration.  Big sigh... So, today I am posting my absolute favorite drawing of a butterfly that I have ever done!  It has a bit of Peter Maxx mixed in with my unique style.  I have been searching for a frame that is equally cool for this drawing but have not found it yet.

Dreams jobs part II & Butterflies

Yesterday, I posted about five dream jobs and after posting, a few more ideas came to mind.  So, altogether let's do ten jobs.  The additional five are as follows in no particular order.  Greeting card designer, create designs for fabrics, children's art teacher, set decorator and my childhood dream illustrator for Disney. On with today's post.  This is a card that I made one night when I was bored.  Doodling is a great way to occupy your self while watching TV and just relaxing.  I use my stash of blank cards, grab my stencils, a bunch of gel pens and start making random patterns.  Every card is unique even if the design that I choose is one I have done before, by doing everything freehand the end result is different.  This one is in green ink for a change.

Butterfly Picture

Sometimes, when I get bored, I like to just draw for no reason.  Just doodle and see what I can come up with.   Many times I use my stencils and just embellish butterflies.  I have a lot of friends that love them, so it's great to have extra projects around just in case I need a gift.  This one, I like for myself.  I am not a huge collector of butterflies, but their shapes and patterns are an inspiration to my work.  The frame is also a thrift store find.  The wood looked a bit beat up, so I just painted it black.  I usually paint frames black just because it compliments much of my work.

Tie Dyed Butterfly

This project is the final September posting!  One month done, eleven to go! Very cheap thrift store find, I think it was 69 cents!  I repainted the whole thing cream and then made the butterfly outline.  Then lightly dipped my brush in various colors and dry brushed and blended.  After the paint was dry, I outlined the butterfly and painted the design.  I am hoping my niece thinks its cool, because it is going to be a Christmas gift for her.

Day 2 September 2

Oh! I have butterflies! I drew this for my friend Renee for a charity auction she is having for a friend with cancer. In this day and age people are always trying to raise money for different causes. I cannot always give money to these fundraisers, but I can give something that will help raise money. Throughout the year I probably make about 3 or 4 items for charities that friends have. A chance to create and give at the same time! Gotta love it. It is ALWAYS better to give than to receive. :)
