Foo Fighters and Frames

Weird combination I know, but today music my inspiration.  Basically there are many types of music that appeal to me.  I do however have a few bands that top my list, The Beatles, The Who, Jimmy Buffett and my absolute favorite, Foo Fighters.  I was excited a few years ago we got to see them even though we did have nose bleed seats the show was still AWESOME!  New album out soon too, cannot wait.  I had to listen to Everlong while driving today, love that song!  So how is this inspiring?  Try not to be inspired by music.  Whatever your preference is, music can change your attitude.  It can get you tapping your toes, singing in your car and can bring a smile to your face.  I miss having a job with music in the background because it helps you get through the day.  How do you feel when you hear that one song?  It washes away the negativity and gets you going!  Am I rambling?  Probably, my bed is calling my name, YAWN!  Now to post for today...

If you haven't guessed it yet, I like frames.  Being an artist it does make sense, but in general even for my family photographs, I like unique frames.  So far in this blog they have been painted, decorated, used as trivets and some left as is.  Don't worry, there is much more to come, frames will never be boring to me.  :)

I have some patterns and designs that are my favorites, so I just drew them to be displayed in this simple frame.  There are times when I am drawing things like this that I wish a computer program was in my possession to use.  The process of drawing is great and relaxing but when it comes to fill in the designs it can be boring.  It would be awesome to just click one that part of the picture and just have it colored in.

Heartthrob Cafe Memories

The best job ever and the coolest friends that I ever had were when I worked at a restaurant called the Heartthrob Cafe.  It was in downtown St Paul, Minnesota and was so fun!  Today we had a get together to catch up and reminisce.  This is one of the many good things about facebook, finding people that you wished you never lost contact with.  So, today my post is the buttons that I made for this event.  We had 'flair' that was a lot more fun and cool than a restaurant chain that I will not name here.  We danced and sang birthday songs.  The girls wore poodle skirts and we did all of this while wearing in line skates.  We were a crazy family and honestly this was one of the best times in my life.  Ahhh...memories. In the time spent there somehow the button machine came into my possession.  In honor of our gathering, of course I had to make pins.  Here are also two murals that I painted at the restaurant.  Let me...

Too many ideas!

When is comes to this time of year, my mind goes into creative overdrive.  I realize my posting is much less now that my original goal has been met, but believe me, I am still making stuff.  There are about ten Christmas gifts in the works as well as my calender drawings.  Current projects involve sewing, crafting, drawing and crocheting.  I am proud to say that a good chunk of gifts are already done or close to being done, yeah!  Working in a fabric store has definitely boosted my creativity and some days too many ideas are crowding my mind.  Because funds are still low for us, I have been buying things bit by bit every payday.  It helps to not have to blow an entire paycheck all at once.  This also is good because with my discount on top of sale price, I have gotten some incredible deals. Add caption Today, my post will be the first of my calender pages.  There are two finished so only ten to go!

Inspiring sky

Today, I had to run a few errands.  It was right around the time that the sky is starting to dim, the clouds were wispy and it was beautiful.   I love sunsets!  The sky was mostly a soft blue with a hint of pink and yellow.  This made me think about painting, so I went home and gathered up my stuff.  This piece of wood was a find at a home improvement store.  They always have odds and ends of cut wood that are next to nothing for cost.  This one was less than a dollar and a really nice heavy piece of oak.  I just brushed on yellow and pink and let them mingle together a bit for the sunset effect.  Then added the palm trees.  A little background about the trees, my husband is a HUGE Jimmy Buffett fan and has got me into the music as well.  Before I met him, I really didn't do much for tropical, but he got me involved in the fan club and once they found out about my art, they started calling me for items that w...
