Button Pin

Look at my collection of buttons, WOW!  So many possibilities.  When you go to craft of fabric stores you can purchase buttons in miscellaneous bags for less than five dollars.  This is an item that is great to have around because there is always a use for them. 
This is a fun idea using buttons.  It was inspired by a craft book that I got at the library.  The project in the book called for felt, but I have a large roll of vinyl from a past job that worked just as well and it is very sturdy.  Actually with the amount of material that I have you can be sure to see more projects with the vinyl in the future.  I cut out a basic flower shape then sewed on buttons in various sizes.  With a bit of hot glue a pin was attached to the back.  Here is a picture of it accessorizing my favorite sweater.  It could be made in whatever color buttons you would like.  Another option is to attach them with glue but by sewing them on the chance of them falling off is less.on

Heartthrob Cafe Memories

The best job ever and the coolest friends that I ever had were when I worked at a restaurant called the Heartthrob Cafe.  It was in downtown St Paul, Minnesota and was so fun!  Today we had a get together to catch up and reminisce.  This is one of the many good things about facebook, finding people that you wished you never lost contact with.  So, today my post is the buttons that I made for this event.  We had 'flair' that was a lot more fun and cool than a restaurant chain that I will not name here.  We danced and sang birthday songs.  The girls wore poodle skirts and we did all of this while wearing in line skates.  We were a crazy family and honestly this was one of the best times in my life.  Ahhh...memories. Pansy Pig

This is the second time that I have found a pig cutting board to use as a canvas for my painting.  This one is slightly larger than the previous one and also has a cute curly tail.       It cost 1.49 at the Goodwill, one of their weekly specials.  Every Tuesday they feature a different color of tag and anything with that color is 1.49.  I love Tuesdays!   Instead of another block design, I decided to paint pansies only in colors that they don't naturally grow.  I have mentioned my preference for things in black and white, but, red is a color that is next on my list of favorites.  The flowers really jump out at you in this project.  My next step is where to put her.  Ah, decisions.  Happy Creating!

Cocktail Coasters Part One

  What a beautiful day!  Read the Sunday paper, went for a walk, relaxed and painted.  I actually painted outside to fully take advantage of the weather.  Since tropical things are on my mind because of yesterday, the project for this post is featuring refreshing summer beverages.  This set of coasters is from a great thrift store and cost 1.91, what a bargain.  The original style is definitely from the seventies.  At first the plan was to make each coaster a different color, but that just didn't work.  A neutral color worked much better with the colorful cocktails.  With the distraction of the weather only three and the holder were finished today.  The others should be done for tomorrow. Hmm...why does a margarita sound good right now?
