Sister Peace - My 400th Post!

I don't know if other artists experience this, but sometimes as I am drifting off to sleep, pictures or designs appear in my brain.  That is where the inspiration for this painting comes from.  I got up and grabbed a sheet of paper and pen and scribbled down what I saw in my head.  I have no clue why this came to my mind.  What is interesting is that I am not Catholic or Muslim, but the woman resembles someone that could be represented in either religion.  Normally I don't name my works of art, but this one just popped in my head.  Ah...the mind of a creative person is always a wonder to me.

Perfume Bottle Pictures

I am just going to put this out there, anyone, can you hire me for one of my dream jobs that were listed in some past posts?  It's gotta happen!  Artist for hire!  Anyone?!  It was one of those days at my regular job.  A day when you are in your car before the clock is even one minute past your punch out time.  What do you do?  Happy hour!  Wow was that beer good today. :) OK, OK here is my post.  Art, my stress reliever.  The small powder room in my home needed a bit of decorating so, I decided to go with a girly theme.  To start with I drew three pictures of perfume bottles.  This was really fun and it got me thinking about making more things like this.  Beauty products come in all shapes and sizes and some of them really lend themselves to my style of artwork.  I'll have to see what other things would work for this decor.  Just when you think all of your ideas are exhausted a new one is born.   ...

Pretty Profile

I got this idea in the middle of the night.  Every now and then I wake up from a dream that is filled with designs and inspiration.  Most of the time I am too sleepy to remember, but sometimes they stick.  My best bet would be to have a notepad by my bed, I may start that tonight. So, the idea was of a profile with hair made of flowers.  In the dream it was like miniature photographs of flowers.  That could be cool, but it would take some time trying to find the perfect pictures and cut them out of magazines.  Drawing was also an option but recently I have really enjoyed the cutouts and have been experimenting more with this medium.  The flowers and leaves were just randomly cut and it didn't take much time at all.  I drew the profile and then added the design with a glue stick.  The can tab frame was the perfect addition to the picture.
